Memory, Fracture, Alchemy, Catharsis

Beauty from Imperfection

Visual Symphonies were brought to life with some -body / -thing / -where as inspiration when they were created. However, through the experience of trauma the joy of the memories and the time when they were created have faded or been lost.

Memories seemingly become shattered, images and thoughts appear broken by the emotional journey. Caroline sought to express this and the resulting impact on her thoughts and spirit, to find within these shattered pieces an opportunity for renewal.

Pushing her creative process to express and deal with the emotional turmoil, to provide a form of catharsis, and emerge from the hurt through an enriching and growing experience.

Caroline represents the stress of trauma by the visual shattering of the original art piece, breaking it into shards of its former self, akin to a stone hitting a windscreen. She then reforms, and embellishes the fragmented canvas, threading the pieces together using insertion stitches and golden yarn, shining a light on the breaks, forming pathways to a new vision.

The result is a newly imagined canvas that captures elements of the original, culminating in a finished piece embodying resilience and growth. The whole process becoming part of the healing for Caroline, lifting the clouds, calm rising from the emotional storm. Beauty from Imperfection.
